Grace and Noah Have A Radio Show!!

Every week, songs are chosen by the DJ’s according to an overarching musical theme (some examples from last semester are cars, winter, and love). In-between songs, anecdotes– which can range from the completely fictional to the completely autobiographical – that relate to the theme of the show, or the specific songs played, are narrated by the DJs. Some anecdotes are performed by characters who recur throughout the broadcast or over the course of multiple broadcasts.

At the beginning of each show, we briefly introduce ourselves and the title of that particular broadcast, which is directly related to the week’s theme. After introductions, we play the first song which will introduce the first story arc of the broadcast (within a typical broadcast there are two story arcs, one from Grace and one from Noah, although we are working on how to intermingle our respective arcs). All anecdotes are told in the first person, although are not necessarily representative of the person relating it. This will be followed by two songs, the first tied to the previous arc, the second tied to the next arc, which will be introduced by the second DJ, such that each “block” consists of [song]-[anecdote]-[song]. This pattern continues for approximately 45 minutes. The last 15 minutes of the show are typically unstructured. The DJs break character and discuss the show’s theme, influences of the week, and interact with each-other and the audience.
