La De Sal
La de Sal is a show that brings in a bunch of different kinds of music, all that are somewhat odd in one way or another. Whether it be alternative rhythms in math rock, jazz instruments in post-alt bands like Black Country, New Road, or a mixture of gangster rap and classical beats in the work of artists like Westside Gunn, the show is about music that doesn’t quite fall into a specific genre.
I think that often, the kind of person that is attracted to those mixed, alternative sounds is someone who is particularly interested in “loser” culture; looking at and loving things that stick out. Whether that person is loud or silent, erratically happy or sad, the music should match their vibe. With that, I like to talk about what aspects of a song or artist make it special or strange; why I love it.
This is a funny and friendly show. The more the phone rings with people calling in to make requests or to talk about something that’s been going on, the better. All I want is some humility and the ability to bring together vibes and personalities that don’t quite match.
Genre: Alternative music, rock, indie, salsa, rap, etc.

HOST
Massimo Mejía
Hi! I’m studying Global Affairs and am in the intensive certificate program for Human Rights Studies. I love all types of music, and come from a very multicultural family with Latino, Italian-American, and Black influences. A lot of what I’m interested in has to do with the crossover of those cultures. Much love to PHL and UIO.
