CAPITALISM I

In this first episode of our arc on CAPITALISM, I discuss the history of South Africa and of U.S. relations with Latin America. I argue (1) the apartheid system resulted not from plain old prejudice, but from the deliberate process by which imperial capitalists expropriated, disciplined, and exploited the indigenous African workforce; and (2) U.S. interventionism in Latin America has always been guided in large part by the interests of American capital, extractive corporations more than willing to violate the sovereignty of Latin American nations in order to increase profits.
