Ideas 12-16-12: Radicalism, Maternalism and Paternalism at Yale with Sam Chauncey ’57

On this episode of Ideas, we interviewed Sam Chauncey ’57, longtime Yale administrator and former special assistant to Yale President Kingman Brewster. Chauncey helped manage the volatile atmosphere on Yale’s campus during the New Haven Black Panther Trials of the 60s.

Sam discussed why students are not nearly as radical or bold as students from the 60s, and he explained why he thinks the pampering of Yale students could be contributing to this problem.
